ASVAB Testing on Monday, 4/7 sign-up The ASVAB will be given at MHS on Monday, April 7th between 8:00 and 11:00 AM. Any interested 10, 11, or 12 grade student may sign up for the ASVAB. There is no cost, and it will be given on paper so no Chromebooks are required. Registration closes at the end of the day on Wednesday, April 2nd at midnight. This ASVAB is a career assessment and provides a measure of skills and abilities in many areas including electronics, auto, mechanical, English, science, and math. Taking the ASVAB does NOT obligate students to talk with military recruiters, but the results could be used should a student desire to pursue entry into the military. The skills-focused scores are good indications of potential success in further training, occupations, and higher education. If you have questions about the ASVAB, you can check out the ASVAB website HERE. You can also reach out to your counselor or Mr. Hall. To sign up for the ASVAB, please follow THIS LINK NOTE: Only a student can complete the sign-up, and they must log-in to their MHS Google Account to access the sign-up.

NEACAC Essay Contest
NEACAC announces its Annual Essay Contest for high school juniors and seniors (grades 11 and 12). High school juniors and seniors from NEACAC-member high schools in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont are invited to submit a 500-word essay on the following topic:
Describe a trusted mentor (counselor, teacher, coach, or peer) who has had the greatest impact on your decision to attend college.
How has this individual supported your educational goals?
Please reflect on their influence/effect on your college process.
A panel of high school counselors and college admissions officers from NEACAC-member institutions will select the winning essays. Essays will be evaluated holistically, taking into consideration factors such as originality, creativity, focus, clarity, and structure. Priority will be given to applicants who hold an identity that has been historically excluded from higher education.
In addition to the $1000 scholarship awarded to the 6 New England state winners, NEACAC will award one overall winner a $2,000 scholarship.
