Schedule Alerts!
Wednesday, October 28th is a scheduled district-wide Early Release. On Early Release days, we hold all 8 periods in a shortened format. The schedule can be found here: Early Release Schedule. Lunch is held after the end of the last period. If students have a ride, they may leave after 8th period and DO NOT need a parent dismissal. Regular buses will arrive after the lunch period at 11:15.
Because of the Early Release, Friday, October 30th will be a Wednesday (Odd Block) Schedule.
College Visits
The following colleges and universities will be sending representatives to MHS this week. Students should sign up for the visits with their Naviance account. Seniors may attend any presentation; juniors may attend if the visit is during a study hall.

Apply NH Day
Join us for Apply NH Day on November 10th in the School Counseling Office.
Take advantage of application fee waivers for participating New Hampshire colleges, get 1-on-1 support from counselors, and enter for a chance to win a $500 scholarship!

St. Paul's Advanced Studies Program
On Thursday November 5th, a representative from St. Paul's Advanced Studies Program will visit Merrimack High School to talk about their program. Interested sophomores and juniors are welcome to sign up and attend. Please stop by the counseling office to sign up. For more information, go to St. Paul's ASP
Colby Sawyer On-the-Spot Day
Colby Sawyer College will hold an On-The-Spot Admissions Day on Thursday November 19,2026. Interested seniors should submit a free application and transcript by November 1, 2026 to qualify. Participating in this program earns the student a $2000 scholarship renewable for four years. See your counselor for more information.
Ski & Snowboard Club Signups
Attention, Merrimack snow riders! Students interested in the ski and snowboard club should see the flyers posted around school and register online with Pat's Peak by November 30 to avoid a price increase. Please contact Mr. Jonesinski with any questions.
American Legion HS Oratorical Contest
The American Legion HS Oratorical Contest is open to New Hampshire students in grades 9–12 who are under age 20 and enrolled in public, parochial, private, military, or approved home-school programs.
The Oratorical Contest gives students an opportunity to develop their public speaking, research, and critical-thinking skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution. Participation may also help fulfill civics-related educational requirements. We encourage you to share this opportunity with your civics, history, English, and social studies departments.
Contest Structure
Prepared Oration:
An 8–10 minute speech on an aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government.
Assigned Topic Discourse:
A 3–5 minute speech focusing on one of the official constitutional provisions or amendments listed below.
2027 Assigned Topics
· Preamble to the U.S. Constitution
· Article VI, Paragraph 2 — The Supremacy Clause
· Amendment XIV, Section 3 — Disqualification from Holding Office
· Amendment XXII, Section 1 — Presidential Term Limits
Awards & Important Dates
Scholarships range from $100 at the local American Legion Post level to $25,000 for national winners.
· District Contests: January through March 1, 2027
· New Hampshire State Competition: March 6, 2027(Snow date: March 20, 2027)
· National Competition: May 14–16, 2027 (Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan)

Scholarship Opportunities
The US JCI Senate Scholarship Foundation will be giving away 30 scholarships worth $2,500, and 20 scholarships worth $2,000 each.
Students who apply must have a GPA of 3.75 or above. All applications must be completed in its entirety and the hard copy sent to the address below and postmarked on or before January 12, 2027.

The Hagan Scholarshipis a need based merit scholarship.
Seniors Who:
*Attend a U.S. public, private, charter, magnet, or STEM high school, regardless of citizenship
*Have a 3.50 CGPA or higher, are goal-driven, and willing to work to achieve their goals.
*Have parents whose 2025 Adjusted Gross Household Income did not exceed $125,000
*Will enroll in a four-year college or university in the fall 2027 semester.
*Will work 240 hours (non-family employment) from January 1, 2027-September 1, 2027
What Hagan Scholars Receive:
*Up to $7,500 each semester for up to eight semesters
*$1,000 to purchase essential items for college
*Free life-skills workshops, a personal Schwab brokerage account, HSF investment account to manage, and up to $8,000 for study abroad.
*Eligibility for a Hagan Graduate Scholarship worth up to $30,000
*No application fee, FAFSA information is not required to apply.
